Hi, I'm Sam. I'm a photographer and filmmaker based on the South Coast of England, working across music, automotive and commercial projects.
I've had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. At twelve, I used inheritance money to buy my first DSLR and spent my weekends begging my Mum to take me to airshows across the UK! I always thought I'd end up flying fast jets in the Royal Air Force, but sadly, life had other ideas. At fourteen, I was diagnosed with ME/CFS after having glandular fever, and by sixteen, I was told I'd never be fit to serve in the RAF.
The skills I learnt shooting airshows as a teenager, patience, timing and attention to detail, built the foundation for the way I work today. That foundation grew further when I studied photography throughout my education, leading to me studying a UAL Foundation Degree in Art, where I majored in photography. Here, I really developed my creative style and earned a Distinction for my final major project.
Whether it's a car on the move, a plane in flight, or a band mid-performance, I'm drawn to the same thing, capturing energy and movement as it happens. I've always liked working in real environments, using natural light, live energy and real moments. Whether it's a gig, a brand shoot or something personal, my focus is always on capturing it with intent.
I hope you enjoy exploring the work featured across my site.
